This inkstone is made of songhua stone, shaped into a gourd. It is green and has a slanted strip-like pattern on the stone. The inkwell is situated on the upper part, and below it is the ink-face where ink is ground. Above the inkwell, a bat is embossed. The bat has spreading wings and is in the gesture of drinking water. The back of the inkstone is chased with an inscription in li-shu (square character) by Yungzheng. The inscription writes: to use it with peace such that it lasts forever. An endorsement from Yungzheng follows.
